Tucson Museum of Art
On a gorgeous November day in Tucson, Tina & Rick tied the knot. Sparklers, a candy bar, fun photo flip books...amazing details made this a night to remember. Each guest was asked "If you could describe the happy couple in just one word, what would it be?"
Photo Montage
This adorable couple have quite the proposal story. Joel had to jump through some serious hoops to give Kristina the ultimate moment for a Wildcat fan!
Outtakes!
Jackson Hole, WY
These bring me right back to Jackson-lots of singing, dancing and drinking. Good times!
Just as it says--these are the bloopers. So much fun, these could have been much longer, but we didn't want their whole wedding film to be out-takes ;-)
We laughed so much at this wedding, I'm surprised we have any steady footage. No, really...
Funny and sweet, Jennifer, Dan and their crew of local media stars had us in stitches.
Who is Stepheny Keith?
• Mastermind/Creator/Benevolent Despot of Black Sheep Filmworks
• Had huge hair in the 80's
• Is married to a hunky Englishman
• Usually wins at Trivial Pursuit
• Loves her iPhone
• Ultimate dream job: Filmmaker Sommelier
• Favorite places: Hutch's Pool, London at Christmas time,
The American Wing at the Met, Taco Bell (Drive Thru)
I started out as "interesting". My parent's motto was "Give a child an interesting name (or spelling, in my case), and they will grow into an interesting person." When the ink dried on by birth certificate, I was Stepheny. My spell check just underlined my name in red. I believe it to be phonetically incorrect, and I can't find this spelling in even the most "new age" baby name book. This "ENY" proclaimed my inherent need to stand out. This was also the reason that I named my production company "Black Sheep".
Back to my family. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs and artists. One of my earliest memories is sitting in my Mother's sunflower garden, pulling carpet and paint swatches off of my Dad's interior design color boards to "help" . I was moved up from Kindergarten to first grade when we were asked our favorite color on the first day of class, and I replied "Magenta." Being surrounded by color, texture and the jaw-dropping beauty of the Tucson desert has greatly influenced me. To this day, my Mother (who happens to be one of the top realtors in Tucson for the past 30+years) will call me to "Take the kids and go look at the sunset tonight!". I guess I was pre-programmed to appreciate aesthetics, and mix them with great business sense.
After graduating from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Media Arts, I set out to conquer the film industry in L.A. I worked on some independent films, but struggled to make a living. I was too young, everyone had a script in their hand, and knew "someone". I knew no one, and came back to Tucson to go to law school. I then met the love of my life, my gorgeous Englishman, my Alex. He said "You'd be a terrible lawyer (gotta love that brutal honesty!), why don't you start your own video production company?" So I did. I was only 24, but I knew I could do it. Tucson was ripe for a production company that wasn't CHEESY. Hence, Black Sheep Video Productions was born. My goal was a boutique company that would create high end films for corporations and individuals. I kept it small in order to maintain the best customer service possible. I contract only 25 events a year, and about the same for my commercial productions. For me, the beauty is in the details. Whether it's a full blown glossy web commercial, or an intimate wedding for close family and friends, I will be there. I will know you when you call. Black sheep filmworks is a successful company because of this. My being a perfectionist and a bit of a control freak also helps to maintain the quality.
My amazing, intelligent, funny, beautiful (I could go on all day...) children Alexa and Aidan also inspire me daily. From finding the perfect font for the science project, to cut-throat karaoke roulette contests, they bring something new to the table every day. I have always run my studio from my home, so that I could be near them. You will often find me at 5:00 am at my Mac, editing, coffee and my Aussie cattle dog Tucker by my side. You may also find me here at 2:00 am, editing, alone. But I have the privilege of taking them to school, going to their games, just being there when they need me.
Black sheep video recently became Black Sheep Filmworks. I have fought the stigma of the obnoxious videographer from day one. You know... an obtrusive individual with a gigantic camcorder sporting blinding lights? That is NOT Black Sheep Filmworks. My narrative, image quality and style has always been evocative of Hollywood films. Therefore earlier this year I ditched the video and the bad juju that went with it. Filmworks is what I strive for--modern, innovative documentaries of the best moments life has to offer. That is what I love about my job. Being there for people on their best days. Capturing it all in a low-key style, and producing films that remind all of us that life is good. Even if your parents misspelled your name on purpose.
Thanks for reading about me and Black Sheep Filmworks, and remember...Stand out from the flock!
"Choosing Black Sheep for our big day was the best decision we made. From the moment I met Stepheny I knew I needed her to be a part of my wedding. My husband, a bit of a camera-phobe, became just as smitten as I was after seeing Stepheny's work...I watch our video A LOT and it makes my heart flutter every time. This is Stepheny's gift and we'll forever be thankful to her."

"I can't say enough about Blacksheep Filmworks! First of all, the finished product was a masterpiece! This isn't your typical wedding day video, in fact, don't even call it a video! I felt like I was watching a movie and realized, this was our wedding! They truly captured the joy that we had that day and it's a joy that only increases each time we watch it. Thanks BSF!"
Watch Kristina & Joel's Film....
"So good I flew them out to film my wedding! Stepheny and Yone flew out to Jackson Hole and even filmed the raft trip and other scenery to incorporate into the video. They were so much fun to work with! But the best part was the final product. AMAZING!! If you want the most amazing videographer from here to Wyoming (and most likely beyond) choose Black Sheep Filmworks!"

"BEST. VIDEOGRAPHER. PERIOD. Like, most brides, I meticulously planned every aspect of my wedding. I wanted it captured, and I wanted it captured in the best way possible. I was worried a videographer would miss events, the sound would be poor, the picture quality grainy, the shooting choppy, or worse...CORNY! Blacksheep did an amazing job, the quality of the video is phenomenal. Go ahead and take the leap of faith, book Blacksheep, and move on to the next item on the to-do list. You won't regret it. You'll have an amazing video that you can watch each year at your anniversary and relive the biggest day of your life."
Felicia & Joel
"It's impossible to count how many times we have watched the highlights reel since we got it. Not to mention, we have had so many friends say, "I wish we had a wedding video," after seeing the one Stepheny put together for us. There are some outfits that offer packages for less, but the quality will be lacking. For outstanding professionalism and quality, go with BlackSheep. Your kids and grandkids will thank you for it."
"The day you have spent months (if not years on) will be gone in a blink of an eye and there are so many things I didn't catch or that I just plain out do not remember- Black Sheep has given all of those things to me and so much more. I did not cry a single tear on my wedding day, but I cry each and every time I watch my DVD. For sure the single most important and amazing decision I made for my wedding day!"

"We absolutely love it. We were able to customize everything, from the songs being played to the specific color and font we wanted. She even incorporated our logo that was designed just for the wedding. On top of all that the video plays out like a movie trailer. The editing is so great and the flow of the whole thing is just amazing. I can't say enough good things about Black Sheep Video Productions. They gave me the best gift imaginable, the ability to relive the best day of my life over and over."
"I would recommend Black Sheep to anyone looking for a wedding video. Not only is Stepheny a great person, but she brings a great mix of professionalism and fun to the prep and ceremony. On top of all that, my wife and I had to plan our Tucson wedding remotely from New York. Great wedding and the way the wedding memories were captured went beyond what we could've hoped for."
Watch Jeannie & Ari's Film....
"She was amazing! From capturing the important moments to the little details that made it unique and special. She was able to blend in and was never really visible yet everywhere that she needed to be! She's the best!"

Why should I have my wedding day professionally filmed?
Your wedding day is a once in a lifetime experience. After months of careful planning to make your celebration perfect, your emotions will fly by in a heartbeat - laughter shared with friends and family as you prepare for your ceremony, eager anticipation as you walk down the aisle, tears of joy as you say your vows, the fun and excitement of your reception. These moments are full of sights, sounds, and motion! And these memories are what are left after your wedding day is over. As professional wedding filmmakers, we capture emotions as only a moving picture can and preserve them for you to enjoy over and over again and to pass down to future generations.
Why should I choose black sheep filmworks to film my wedding?
By having us film your wedding, you get the exceptional benefits of an experienced professional wedding filmmaker: a creative eye with the ability to capture flattering angles and compose terrific shots, the skill to anticipate important moments and ensure that emotional moments are captured forever, plus you get professional HD cameras, professional microphones, professional editing to give you the outstanding picture quality and great sound that your wedding day deserves. The edited master will be burned to DVD, and the HD master digital file will be placed on a client supplied hard drive. All in all, you get a complete production that beautifully captures your memories in a film that you will love.
I have hired a really great still photographer. Do I need a filmmaker as well?
Would you watch the superbowl in a book? Would your favorite Broadway musical be as fantastic in print? No to both. Your wedding day MOVES. These are sites and sounds that will never happen again. His first glance as the music swells and you walk down the aisle. Your father's toast with a slight tremble in his voice. A wistful smile and an "Oh sweetheart, you look beautiful..." as your mom sees you in your gown for the first time. The only way to truly remember this day, in all its glory, is with an amazing wedding film.
How should I choose a professional wedding filmmaker?
Hiring the right filmmaker does make a difference. There are no retakes in a live event. It must be done right the first time. Choose a wedding filmmaker who is accomplished and dedicated to outstanding service - it takes more than good equipment to make a great film. It takes talent, vision, and accomplished camera skills. Also keep in mind that your filmmaker will be with you throughout your wedding day. Choose someone you feel confident will interact well with both you and your guests. The most important element to shop for is the actual filmmaker, whose creative experience, professionalism and talents are what you really want.
Will the filmmaker be intrusive?
Not if you hire black sheep ;-) One of our favorite things to hear after a wedding is "I didn't even know you were there!" With state of the art DSLR and HD cameras, we are able to use very little additional lighting to achieve astonishing results. Gone are the days of the big cameras/lights...we will blend in and capture it all!
We've heard a lot about Stepheny. Will she be the one to film our event?
Yes! When you hire black sheep filmworks you ALWAYS get Stepheny and her crew. Stepheny is the main shooter, with one or two assistants who have been thoroughly trained in the ways of the black sheep. We arrive in all black, with a creative vision for your day. We are like ninjas, (the non-violent type) with cameras.
What about pricing and packages?
Your investment in your wedding film starts at $2195.00. We have many package options, and would love to discuss what is best for you and your big day.
How does the editing process work?
We have you fill out a wedding questionnaire before your wedding date. This gives us all of your dates, times, locations, names, music choices, fonts, colors etc...be as detailed as you wish, or leave it in our capable hands. Some of our best magic happens that way! Our normal turn-around time is twelve weeks after the wedding date and receipt of all editing materials.
Will I watch my film more than once?
Our clients tell us they watch their wedding films over and over again. We're creating a movie of your wedding day that is fun and exciting to relive. Most say they see something new every time they watch it. You'll love sharing your film with family and friends. And most importantly, you'll have a permanent record of an amazing moment in time that will be passed down for generations to come.
